Peace of God - Christ is Born !
Dear brothers and sisters, Spiritual Children of our Mother, the Serbian Church.
Two millennia have passed since that night in Bethlehem when the Mother of God gave birth to the King of kings, to the pre-eternal God and our Savior Jesus Christ. In that cold night there was no warm place to be found in any of the inns of Bethlehem, but a cave offered hospitality. The only place the Theotokos could place her Child was in a manger filled with straw. Humbly, quietly, completely unnoticed, God entered in among us, became one of us.
The message of the Bethlehem night is that God became a man in order to lead mankind into heaven and deify us. " Glory to God in the highest and on Earth peace "! With that word on our lips and hearts we Serbs have met one another for centuries with the greeting " Peace of God ", we have experienced the Nativity of the Son of God here on Earth as an actual happening, crucial for us and the universe around us. I fell that in these uneasy and disturbed times, God's peace is needed now more than ever. What is He always expecting of us - especially now ? That we love our neighbor, for in this way God draws near to our love. Let us rejoice when our brother progresses in good and abides in peace. Let us commiserate when misfortune persecutes us, when adversity besets us. We hope-and we pray to the Divine Infant-that our eyes will be opened so that in all our current and future endeavors we will always see before us
" the least of Christ's brothers ": all those who for various reasons during these past years have been left unemployed, or who have been forced to take such low-paying work that they cannot feed their families, all those who hearts are saddened. No one in the world can be happy or carefree while there are so many who are hungry and thirsty for justice, while there are so many unfortunate and hopeless people for whom help is absolutely essential. We are constantly aware that our relationship towards " the least of Christ's brothers " will be the criterion by which we are justified or condemned at the Lord's Judgment Day.
Let us come to our Holy Church on this Christmas day ! Let us offer thanks to God trough our worship of the Christ Child, on the dawn of the Nativity. Let as carry a branch of the Yule log, a bit of straw, and most of all, the warmth of our heart so that the Christ Child might find a place for his dwelling. Wishing you happy and peaceful year of the Lord 2016.
INDEED HE IS BORN !
